Beth Dwyer speaks on Reinventing Retail

GGLO's own Beth Dwyer was a panelist at yesterday's ULI Seattle Panel: Reinventing Northwest Retail - Innovators & Best Practices. The panel spoke to over 100 attendees at Bellevue's Meydenbauer Center and was covered in today's Daily Journal of Commerce [sub req'd], in an article titled Landlords trying to figure out what works in retail today. The DJC quoted Beth:

Panelist Beth Dwyer, an architect with GGLO, said the key concepts to successful retail design are approachability, adaptability, authenticity and community.

Customers need to be able to intuitively see where a store entrance is and how to navigate once inside...

She said “most people want to feel connected,” which is why it's important to create a sense of community in projects.

Ron Sher of Sher Partners moderated the panel. Other Panelists included Susie Detmer of Cushman & Wakefield, Rick Parks of TRF Pacific and Dan Stroh of the City of Bellevue.
