The Northwest Maritime Center---for which GGLO provided landscape architecture services---was one of five award winning projects in AIA Seattle's 2010 What Makes it GREEN competition. Designed by a team led by the Miller|Hull Partnership, the Center was awarded Honorable Mention for Cultural Sustainability.
GGLO was the landscape architect in a collaborative design process with the Northwest Maritime Center to create a new multi-purpose cultural and educational facility along the shores of Port Townsend. The LEED Gold project includes a 20,000 square foot public commons for festivals and events, custom designed streetscape elements, native planting, and parking stalls with electric car charging stations. Located in historic Port Townsend, the Center was designed to meet both the cultural needs of the historic preservation commission and the environmental needs of a sustainable building along the waterfront.
