Greenbridge, a mixed income community in White Center was recently selected to receive the 10-Minute Neighborhood Award at the 50th International Making Cities Livable Conference in Portland. The award recognizes the outstanding effort that King County Housing Authority and their design team, led by GGLO, have made to create a vibrant neighborhood through emphasizing public space, plazas and pathways.

The conference theme, 'Reshaping Suburbia Into Complete Healthy Communities', encapsulates the story behind Greenbridge. This BuiltGreen® neighborhood, the focus of a 100-acre HOPE VI redevelopment plan, replaced existing 1940's era housing with a varied mix of housing types and open spaces. The end result is a culturally diverse neighborhood  with services at its heart and a myriad of connections to the surrounding community.

GGLO has had the pleasure of working with the Housing Authority on the design and planning of Greenbridge for over 10 years now, and we couldn't be more excited to see this community continue to flourish and be recognized.
